Naxos sits in the middle of the Aegean Sea and it’s the biggest among the Cycladic island. Due to its size and location it has always has been a prosperous place with many inhabitants, visitors and an important role in the region. This left the island with very important landmarks and a rich history. Naxos was the epicenter of culture and history in the Cyclades and Aegean Sea. Aside from the emblematic Venerian Castle which overlooks Naxos town, the island is full of different monuments from different times, representing the island’s different rulers and inhabitants across the centuries. Naxos features some of the most picturesque and crystal-clean beaches in the Cyclaces winning several Blue flags as well as press coverage over the years. Being a very big island it offers the possibility to the travellers to visit both very popular, be-seen beaches as well as more tranquil, peaceful options, the so-called “hidden gems”.
